The Great Gatsby is a film that marvelously portrays the contrast between the lavish lifestyle of New York’s society in the 1920s and the romantic idealism of its protagonist, Jay Gatsby. The film inspired us to level off the epoch’s luxury, the constant pursuit of pleasure and chase of the forbidden, the desire to live and show the world how excess turns into glamour. The Art Deco showcased in the movie serves as a bridge between the sophisticated world of the XX century and the protagonism of an exclusive event of the likes of Millesime.

During the conceptualization of our restaurant, we planned a luxurious space with a nostalgic feel; a space free of judgement, in accordance to the quixotic Jay Gatsby. The protagonist organizes mysterious and lavish parties as a means to his one and only goal: to get back with the love of his life in a tempting and exciting environment.

The three-dimensional elements were converted into textures similar to those in a golden latticework. The lighting design was of the utmost importance to achieve the feeling of nostalgia. Working together with caralarga and ulalight, we created a special luminary for the restaurant space. Through the use of natural stones, wood and recycled materials, we created a unique interpretation of the ostentatious world that surrounds Jay Gatsby. The Great Gatsby was formed with the idea that an ephemeral space can generate unique one-in-a-lifetime experiences.
